Christmas Day 2001

The temperatures have been in the low 30s for the last couple of days, and humidity barely 10 percent. The Illawarra's forests are now bone dry so the local government has imposed a total fire ban - unfortunately it is too late. There are dozens of bush fires throughout NSW. Wollongong has the dubious honour of being in the path of two of them...
